Do you ever do that thing where you buy just one (read: 10) too many bananas and they are all perfectly ripe (or a bit overripe) at the same time? Yes? Me too. Usually they go into the base of granola, which, as we know, is a hot commodity in these parts. But I already had granola, and I wanted something different. And pretty. Something I could put into the darling little paper cups that have been sitting on top of my shelves for months. Muffins would do the trick!…
Sometimes, simple is best. Other times, though, quite the opposite is true.
While it is a fact that a slice of freshly baked banana bread warm from the oven certainly hits the spot, sometimes, I want something different. Just to keep things interesting. It’s not that my love for banana bread could ever fade, but it could, perhaps, get a big stale. (Did you catch that one? I’m patting myself on the back)….
I think we are all quite aware by now that I am the president of the hummus fan club. And I’m not afraid to throw an entire head of garlic (roasted, of course) into the aforementioned delectable dip. You may not know, however, that I am a cauliflower fiend. I horde the stuff like it’s going extinct, and it’s not out of the ordinary for me to eat an entire head in one sitting.
So why, I asked myself, have I not combined my love for these three versatile ingredients? And yes, hummus is an ingredient (hummus based salad dressing, anyone?). Well today is the magical day that it happens. And let me tell you, I could not stop eating this. I’m almost positive that a third of it went into my mouth before I even got around to scraping it out of the food processor….
